Etude House Real Art Cleansing Oil (Light) Review

Ever since I started wearing make-up I have always used cleansing wipes to remove make-up, but that was all until I decided to try out Etude House's Real Art Cleansing Oil. I knew about this cleansing oil through a number of blogs and reviews, which ranked this cleansing oil to be a good one. I wasn't too sure about it at first because I have oily skin and the word 'oil' made me think twice but actually its working very well for me.

What I think...
In contrast to what I had initially expected, this cleansing oil does not make my skin more oily and does remove make-up pretty well. This may be because I have the light version of the cleansing oil, but I have used the moisture version, that is when I stay over at my sister's, and I have not experienced even oilier skin after use. I am glad as its given a great first impression of cleansing oils and I would probably be more open to try other cleansing oils.

I love how easy it is to remove make-up. With this cleansing oil, I do not have to use more than one cleansing wipe and more cotton pads to remove make-up with cleansing water afterwards. It is so much easier and comfortable to remove eye make-up also and all in one go, so I really love how simple it is. I normally wear foundation, concealer, thick black eyeliner, coloured eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil, and waterproof mascara which can all be removed with this cleansing oil. I use 3 pumps of product as I wear a lot of make-up and it is enough to remove all my make-up. I do use cleansing water after using cleansing oil just to make sure all the make-up has been removed, and I do find it to be very effective as there's not much left when I cleanse again using cleansing water.

I think how you emulsify the cleansing oil is also very important when removing the make-up. If you skip this step, your make-up will not be removed properly and as effectively, which is what I experienced when I first started using this cleansing oil.

The packaging is very pretty too. I find the light version to be prettier than the moisture and deep moisture version, but I guess its down to the fact that this version's packaging is purple whereas the moisture versions are yellow.

It's also very travel friendly as it comes with a screw cap and a pump. Therefore if you wish to take this on holiday with you, you can just take the pump out, screw the cap back on and take the pump, clean it and pack it separate to the bottle to avoid leaks. It also comes with a protective label which you rip off once you decide to start using the product, as well as a stopper, which attaches to the pump, to prevent accidents after peeling away the protective label.

I also really love the box that it comes in because I find the top of the box pretty clever. The name of the product is printed on the top right corner of the top of the box, and its so easy to open and close. I don't know how to explain but there's a flap that fits into the line gap very easily.

The packaging is plastic and not cardboard so it is very sturdy, however I do not plan on keeping the box after I start using the product. The size of the product is an appropriate size, contributing to its sturdiness. As the bottle is square shaped, the base of the bottle is also a good circumference and stays perfectly in place when you press down the pump.

Etude House products also print good English on all their products, and so its easy to find and understand the product description, instructions, and ingredients - no need to translate or search online.

Pros
  • Effectively removes make-up
  • Does not dry out skin
  • Does not make skin more oily
  • Comes with pump, stopper and screw cap
  • Travel friendly
  • Good size
  • Sturdy

Cons
  • I can not think of any.

I really can not think of any cons for this product and cannot give any comparisons to other cleansing oils, as it is the first cleansing oil I have used. This is an overall great and effective cleansing oil, without breaking me out, and at a great price too. I would highly recommend this and this is already my second bottle.

My Rating: 5/5
