Make Up For Ever HD Foundation Review

I'm back again with a new review and a foundation review. This is my first time ever purchasing Make Up For Ever products so I was so excited to try it out, especially having heard so many great things about it, but it's not really available in the UK so I have been trying to get my hands on it for ages. My sister and I had actually considered taking a trip to Paris for a day or two over the summer, just to visit Sephora, as well as not having any holidays planned for this year but we thought it was too expensive and bothersome to travel so we passed on the idea in the end. A few weeks ago, my sister was watching a vlog and found out that there is actually one store in London that sells MUFE products, so as soon as it was the weekend, I travelled to London, visited the shop, and bought my MUFE products. I am so happy that I have finally purchased the foundation I have been wanting to get my hands on in years and try it out, and I am very pleased with it.

What I think...
I have always heard great things about this product and so I was really looking forward to trying it out, but the day before I actually applied the product I read a few reviews from those who were disappointed with the product. This made me feel anxious about the product because I had a really high expectations of this product. Nevertheless, I finally decided to use the product after a week of purchase and I loved it immediately.

The texture is very thin and light. Its water consistency makes it so easy to apply and blend. I would say this is the best and easiest foundation I have tried in terms of application and blending. It does not look cakey at all, which does happen with quite a few foundations I have when I first apply it, and it still does not look cakey after powder, which I absolutely love. Not only that, but the foundation does not oxidise and the colour the foundation look when I first apply stays the same all throughout the day.

I think it does a good job at covering pores and along with the help of the translucent powder, which I purchased along with this foundation, helps with oil control very well. My moisturiser may also be of help, which I have started using within the past month or so which is the Clarins moisturiser for oily skin, mentioned in my September favourites. I do still get oily but not as oily as I do with other foundations, and this would normally take around 5 hours before I feel like I have to blot or powder. Although, this may not seem like a long time, in terms of oil control, but there is a difference between the amount of oil with this foundation and other foundations, and with this the it is clearly less oily. Even after using the powder, my skin looks great and does not look cakey at all.

Apologies for the photos not being in such great quality. I hope my new camera arrives soon.

Pros
  • Great texture and consistency
  • Very easy to apply and blend
  • Does not oxidise
  • Skin does not look cakey or dry
  • Covers pores
  • Helps with oil control
Cons
  • Price
  • Availability in the UK

As you can see from my pros and cons, the cons have nothing to do with the product but more price and place related problems. Due to the price, I don't want to waste the product but I can imagine myself reaching for this foundation nearly everyday anyway. I'm glad there is at least one store in the UK where I can purchase it from. Although, it's in London and in a location I rarely visit but I would be willing to go just to buy this product, considering I have no other choice. These two points would probably be the reason I would deduct a few points off my overall rating.

Nevertheless, I love everything about the product itself and I have no complaints so far. I would definitely say this is the best foundation I have ever used. It's everything I could really ask for in a foundation, and I'm so glad I was not disappointed in the foundation, especially having waited soooo long to try the product. I would definitely recommend this foundation for someone who wants high coverage, and someone who would not mind paying the price tag this foundation comes with. Perhaps, it's cheaper elsewhere in the world. Do not hesitate to try this product!!

My Rating 4.5/5
